Both "Band of the Blessed Acorn" and "The Duke and Pierre on a Thursday Afternoon" are from my "Friends of the Forest" collection, which came out about five months ago. The theme of the collection was mainly little creatures playing a part in a big world.
Side note: The name for the Duke and Pierre design was inspired by a supporter who shared the design on her Instagram story and said something along the lines of "Me on a Thursday afternoon". My husband and I absolutely lost it because the idea that this woman has something going on in her life where she needs to resort to indulging in wine, cheese, and bread on THURSDAY AFTERNOON is so funny to us. Not a Friday, a Thursday. There's still a full day in the workweek! And it's not even at night! It's in the afternoon! On a Thursday!
As for "Peter & Despereaux, the Roughriders", that design is from my "Heroic Beasts" collection and was released in July 2024. That collection was done in a transition period where I further developed how I do my art, and the Roughriders design was one of the first animal designs where I felt extra proud with how it turned out!
There really isn't one set story, but multiple in one universe. I go through different periods where my art kind of focuses on a subject, naturally based on whatever I think is cool at the time. After a while, these designs are compiled into a collection which is then sold on my website. I then tell my husband the idea I had behind a design, and he writes some flavour text to tell a small part of that design's story and titles the collection. There will certainly be more storytelling in the future, but that will be revealed in due time!
